The Danuta Baduszkowa Music Theatre in Gdynia since 18 May 1958 is one of the most important cultural institutions of the region. It is located in an attractive tourist city, just above the sea. Gdynia is one of the most developed business cities in the country, a modern centre of maritime economy, international trade, science, culture and tourism.

During 62 years of existence The Music Theatre in Gdynia has prepared more than 330 premiers: musicals, operettas, musical performances, ballets, cabarets, fairy tales, concerts and chamber performances. Some of the titles presented in the history of the theatre include: JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR, FIDDLER ON THE ROOF, LES MISERABLES, EVITA, HAIR, CHICAGO, THE DOLL and SHREK, thus becoming the cultural showcase of the Pomerania region which is recognized throughout the country.

The design of the theatre builing has changed after the expansion, ended 2003. The audience of the Large Stage has been increased to 1,070 seats. The foyer was enlarged, has obtained an additional floor and additional premises were created. The project was financed from European Union funds, the City of Gdynia’s budget and the Pomorskie Provincial Government.

The New Stage can accommodate 360 spectators. The stage has a separate entrance, foyer, ticket offices, coat rooms and dressing rooms. The opening was held in April 2012. From that moment more than 60,000 people have visited the New Stage.

Together with 150 seats in the Chamber Hall, the three stages of the expanded theatre can accommodate over 1,500 people! The Music Theatre in Gdynia became the largest music theatre in the country. The usable area has increased from 14 thousand m2 to 19 thousand  m2. Thanks to the expanded space the theatre is more attractive. From this point various initiatives can be implemented - exhibitions, concerts, galas and theatrical performances fully using the technical potential Theatre, with state-of-the-art sound, lighting and audiovisual equipment.
